Preconference Courses and Exams

Preconference and Conference Registration

Advance your expertise and career potential by obtaining a NEHA credential or certification at the AEC. You may choose to take just a credential/certification course, just an exam, or both a course and an exam.

Note: Only qualified applicants will be able to sit for an exam. A separate application is required for each credential exam and the application deadline is 5/14/18.


Registered Environmental Health Specialist/ Registered Sanitarian (REHS/RS)

Review course: Saturday, June 23 – Monday, June 25 from 8:00am–5:00pm Saturday and Sunday, and 8:00am-12:00pm on Monday
Exam: Tuesday, June 26 8:00am 

Individuals will need to submit the application and all required documents and fees by May 14th in order to be eligible to sit for the exam. This two and a half day refresher course is designed to enhance your preparation for the NEHA REHS/RS credential exam. Participants are expected to have a solid foundation of environmental health knowledge and training equal to the eligibility requirements to sit for the REHS/RS credential exam. This course alone is not enough to pass the REHS/RS credential exam. The class will cover exam content areas as described in the Candidate Information Brochure.

Cost: $499 Members, $599 Nonmembers. REHS/RS Study Guide is not included.

Certified Professional – Food Safety (CP-FS)

Review course: Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24, 8:00am – 5:00pm daily
Exam: Monday, June 25 8:00 am 

Individuals will need to submit the application and all required documents and fees by May 14th in order to be eligible to sit for the exam.This two-day refresher course is designed to enhance your preparation for the NEHA CP-FS credential exam. Participants are expected to have prior food safety knowledge and training equal to the eligibility requirements to sit for the CP-FS exam. The course will cover exam content areas as described in the Candidate Information Brochure. The instructor will be available during and after the course for questions.

Cost: $399 for members and $499 for nonmembers. Includes the CP-FS Study Package (CP-FS manual, and CP-FS Flash Cards), a $260 value.

Certified in Food Safety Supplier Audits (CFSSA)

Exam: Monday, June 25 8:00am

Individuals will need to submit the application and all required documents and fees by May 14th in order to be eligible to sit for the exam. There will not be a CFSSA review course offered at the AEC.

Body Art Training: Inspection Basics for Body Art Establishments

Monday, June 25
1:00 – 3:00pm 
 
This free course will discuss best practices for the body art industry and body art inspections based on the upcoming revised Body Art Model Code. Attendees will learn how to perform a studio inspection, how a studio should be set up, sterilization within a studio, plus much more! The course will be led by industry expert Steve Joyner from the Association of Professional Piercers with 30 years of experience.

Developed to meet the multiple training needs of newly appointed and seasoned environmental health officials, this intensive, interactive program focuses on management versus leadership, successful strategies, and best practices for leaders.


Affiliate Leadership Workshop

Sunday, June 24
1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

This workshop is free – pre-registration is required (capped at 50 participants). 

The 2018 workshop will focus on providing affiliates with tools and information on planning and hosting successful conferences. Affiliate leaders who will play a role in planning upcoming state and regional conferences are encouraged to attend.
